Where these details come from

Nothing about crafted tier armor is in an official Blizzard post yet. The Deep Dive recap only sets the wider scene: over 600 new recipes across professions and level ranges, and advanced Blueprint recipes from dungeon bosses. The crafting details below come from beta datamining and one player's 23 September 2026 screenshot of a Hyjal vendor, as summarised in Wowdee's tier-set guide.

Treat them as beta findings that can still change before Hyjal Summit and the Barrow Deeps open on 9 December 2026.

Hand-inked illustration of a loot chest with its lid lifted, a workbench holding a three-panel tunic-shaped armour piece with gold stitching and one buckled clasp, and a quill and ink at the bench's end.
Raid loot becomes essence, essence one crafted piece; the tunic is generic, as chests aren't on the reported craft list.

The reported workflow

Four of each six-piece set's slots are reported as craftable. The steps, as far as they're known:

  1. Buy the recipe from a vendor in Hyjal. Shoulders, gloves, legs and boots are the craftable slots; head and chest are not on the list.
  2. Get Malleable Essence of Nature, which every recipe needs. Beta data says it comes only from disenchanting loot from Hyjal Summit or the Barrow Deeps.
  3. Have the piece crafted. Which profession makes it, and at what skill, hasn't been pinned down.
  4. Equip it within the limit. Crafted pieces are tagged Unique-Equipped: Artisan's Tier, so you can wear one, or two once you reach Revered with the Guardians of Hyjal, according to the player report.

What the limit means for your set

The same beta data gives each raid tier set six pieces with bonuses at 2, 3, 4 and 5 equipped. A crafted piece fills one weak slot rather than building a set on its own: at the one-piece limit it adds a single piece toward your bonuses, and at Revered two crafted pieces reach the 2-piece bonus by themselves.

Pick the crafted slot by your gaps. If the raid has already given you legs, spend the essence on the slot where your current item is weakest. Because the finished pieces are reported as Bind on Equip, a player without the profession should be able to buy one from someone who has it.

One open question matters more than the rest. Head and chest are expected to be raid drops, but the beta files don't say whether shoulders, gloves, legs and boots also drop as non-crafted pieces. If they don't, the crafted limit would hold a player to four set pieces, two drops plus two crafted at Revered, and the 5-piece bonus would be out of reach. That's an inference from incomplete data, not a confirmed rule.

Budgeting the essence

Because the essence comes from disenchanting raid loot, it competes with items someone might otherwise take. A raid that wants crafted pieces will need an enchanter along and an agreed rule for which unwanted drops get disenchanted and who receives the essence. How much essence each recipe needs, and what else it calls for, isn't in the published beta summary.

Still to come

Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:

  • Which profession teaches each recipe, and at what skill.
  • Recipe prices, the full reagent list and the essence count per piece.
  • Official confirmation of the Unique-Equipped: Artisan's Tier limit and the Revered exception.
  • Whether shoulders, gloves, legs and boots also drop in the raids.
  • Final bonus values before the 9 December raid opening.
