Is Hyjal Summit a raid or the leveling zone?
Hyjal Summit is the 20-player raid built into Mount Hyjal, in northern Kalimdor. The zone of the same name you level through, with Darkwhisper Gorge and the story of restoring the land, is a different place built on the same mountain. Finishing that zone does not mean you have seen the raid.
Both sit in the aftermath of Archimonde's defeat, the climactic battle of Warcraft III's Third War, but Blizzard treats them as separate pieces: a leveling zone with its own quests, and a raid instance layered over it for level 60 groups. The 12 September 2026 What's Next panel confirmed the raid's size and setting, but named no entrance, attunement, or lockout type.

What's confirmed about the raid
Raids open on 9 December 2026, five weeks after the 4 November launch. Hyjal Summit unlocks alongside Barrow Deeps, a 10-player raid, and Onyxia's Lair. Twenty players is a real commitment to organize, closer to a guild raid night than a pickup dungeon group.
Blizzard paired that announcement with new tier sets and a legendary reward it has not revealed in full yet. Neither the tier bonuses nor the legendary are itemized, so treat both as confirmed to exist and nothing more for now.
Why you can't preview it in beta
The WoW: Forever beta opened 17 September 2026 at a level 20 cap, raised to level 30 later in the test, and runs through 21 October 2026. That cap never reaches level 60, so Hyjal Summit stays untested by anyone before launch, beta access or not.
Use the beta and the weeks after launch to level a character and gear it through dungeons instead. The nine new leveling dungeons, from the Hall of Thanes under Ironforge to the Drowned City, are good places to prepare a level 60 character while you wait. The first real look at Hyjal Summit's own bosses and mechanics will come after 9 December.
Thirteen bosses, one Legacy point
The Legacy system counts one point for defeating all 13 Hyjal Summit bosses, part of a three-point Raids category that also covers Onyxia and the eight Barrow Deeps bosses. That is a challenge requirement, not a boss list. Blizzard has not named any of the thirteen, their order, or their mechanics.
That point feeds the same account-wide pool as everything else in Legacy. Spending caps at 16 points per character at launch, so the Hyjal Summit point is one piece of a larger total, not something to rush for its own sake.
Once Hyjal Summit opens, raid night needs a checklist as much as a roster: who still needs which boss for the Legacy point, who is missing a tier piece, and what each boss actually drops. The Wowdee add-on + app will track your raid's Hyjal Summit progress and loot needs in one shared checklist.
Still to come
Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:
- The 13 boss names, the raid's entrance, and its lockout type.
- Loot, tier set bonuses, and the legendary reward tied to the first raid tier.
- Whether any attunement or key stands between the raid door and your group.
- Whether Onyxia's Lair is new content or a returning Classic encounter.
