What Mount Hyjal is

Mount Hyjal is the Kalimdor zone, above Winterspring and Felwood, where WoW: Forever picks up the story after Archimonde's defeat at the end of the Third War. You travel through Darkwhisper Gorge and the recovering slopes above it, meeting new factions while you help decide what the mountain becomes.

ExpCarry's beta guide reports a level-60 zone label in the client, placing Hyjal near the end of the 1-60 journey. It describes endgame questing with both solo and group content, beyond the separate raid entrances.

Hyjal was on the Kalimdor map from Classic launch, and players reached the area through wall-jumping from Winterspring. Forever turns it into a questing zone inside original Azeroth, with a route through Darkwhisper Gorge.

The forest is the level 60 zone. The gate above it belongs to the raids.

What level is Mount Hyjal?

The beta client's level-60 zone label is not a confirmed minimum entry requirement. ExpCarry reports that label, while Blizzard has not separately published a minimum for physically entering the zone.

Beta client data from the 1 October 2026 build lists Hyjal's Group Finder activity at levels 55 to 60. That same beta build caps characters at level 30, so nobody has reached Hyjal through normal play yet. Treat any specific quest order or hub route you see right now as beta-client guesswork, not a tested path.

Darkwhisper Gorge and getting there

In Classic, Darkwhisper Gorge was a corner of Winterspring, separate from the Mount Hyjal zone on the map. Forever connects the two, running the gorge into the mountain as part of the road you walk on the way up.

WoW: Forever has no flying mounts, so reaching Hyjal means ground travel the whole way. Beta client data points to Everlook, in Winterspring, as the nearest staging point, with a flight connection into the zone once you arrive. Blizzard has not confirmed whether a quest or another requirement gates that first crossing.

That fits Forever's wider design: no flying mounts and no level scaling anywhere, so every zone, Hyjal included, is crossed on the ground and entered at the level it was tuned for.

Two raids, one mountain

Hyjal Summit, the 20-player raid, sits at the top of the mountain. Barrow Deeps, the 10-player raid, is reported by beta guides to have three entrances spread around the world, including one on Mount Hyjal. Questing through the outdoor zone does not clear either raid.

Both raids unlock on 9 December 2026, five weeks after Forever launches on 4 November. That leaves the first month at level 60 for the zone itself, including two beta-confirmed factions, Guardians of Hyjal and Barkskin Burrow, and whatever reputation grind comes with them.

Once Hyjal's quest hubs and the two factions are public, Wowdee will turn them into a route: which hub to land in first, which faction to work toward Guardians of Hyjal and Barkskin Burrow rewards, and when to step away for Hyjal Summit or Barrow Deeps.

Still to come

Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:

  • The exact minimum level needed to physically enter Mount Hyjal.
  • The full quest hub list and story order through the zone.
  • Guardians of Hyjal and Barkskin Burrow reputation reward tables.
  • Barrow Deeps' entrance location on Mount Hyjal and any access requirements.
