What's new for Enchanting in WoW: Forever

Enchanting picks up a batch of new crafts in Forever. Icy Veins confirms the profession can now craft wands, staves, off-hand items, and class relics, on top of the dust, essence, and shard disenchanting that has always powered it. Blizzard Watch's beta recipe list ties these relics to specific classes: the new Idols reference Druid spells such as Wrath and Primal Bite, the new Librams reference Paladin abilities such as Holy Shield and Seals, and the new Totems reference Shaman spells such as Lightning Bolt and Lesser Healing Wave.

Crafted wands were already part of Classic Era Enchanting, and Forever's beta keeps them around. It also adds more than just one new recipe: Blizzard Watch's beta recipe list names five new wand types, Twisted Nether Wand, Dreambough Wand, Lesser Eternal Wand, Greater Eternal Wand, and Brilliant Wand, on top of the existing lineup.

New enchant formulas also appeared for slots that have not always had them. Blizzard Watch's beta recipe list includes necklace enchants (Agility, Deflection, Healing Power, Spell Power, and Strength), a chest absorption enchant, several bracer enchants, glove enchants, and a cloak enchant, alongside the usual ring, weapon, and two-handed weapon options. Blizzard Watch itself notes that "until launch, some of these enchants can change" as the beta continues, so treat the exact stats on any single recipe as subject to another pass before the 4 November 2026 launch.

Enchanting now crafts staves and relics, but a wand will not make you rich at the vendor.

The wand nerfs: spell power and the vendor flip

Enchanting's crafted wands took two separate hits during the beta. The 24 September 2026 build removed a wand mechanic outright: "Wands no longer gain any additional damage from the user's spell damage," per Blizzard's official beta development notes. That is a flat damage nerf to every wand, not just ones enchanters craft.

The 1 October 2026 build, posted alongside the level cap rising from 20 to 30, targeted the economy side instead: "All crafted common and uncommon quality wands now sell at vendors for 1 copper," Blizzard's Professions change log states. That wording only covers crafted wands, so a wand that drops from a mob or comes as a quest reward should still sell for its normal price. The change ends a well known beta tactic where players farmed linen, disenchanted crafted greens for wand mats, and vendored the finished Lesser or Greater Magic Wand for a few silver at a time, all while leveling Enchanting toward 150 skill.

That tactic was already a little cheaper to run than in Classic Era. A WoW Forever Enchanting leveling guide that tracks the beta client's own recipe data shows the Greater Magic Wand now costs two Lesser Magic Essence instead of Classic Era's one Greater Magic Essence, a recipe change separate from the vendor price cut above.

What does the Arcane Salvager actually do?

Icy Veins' beta guide lists the Arcane Salvager camp item at 140 Enchanting skill. Icy Veins describes it as allowing "more efficient disenchanting at the camp" and granting the same buff as the Enchanted Lute, extra Armor, stats, and resistances, to everyone resting nearby, as long as a campfire is close.

Player reports do not all agree on what "more efficient" means in practice. An EU forum poster on 4 October 2026 described it as sometimes doubling the materials from a disenchant, and complained about having to haul bank items out to a campfire to get the benefit. A Reddit poster who tested it on 23 September 2026 reported no measurable difference in results with or without the buff active. As of 6 October 2026 nothing public settles which account is right, so treat the exact disenchanting math as unconfirmed.

Sourcing the item is also murky this early. One Reddit comment claims the Arcane Salvager drops as a blue quality item from dungeons, possibly Ruins of Lordaeron, unconfirmed, and has sold on the beta auction house for around 75 silver, separate from crafting it yourself at 140 skill. That is a player report only, worth checking again after launch.

Enchanting trainer ranks in Forever

Enchanting still trains through four ranks, and each one raises your usable skill cap. You can train the next rank before you hit your current cap, as long as you already meet that rank's skill and character level requirement. Apprentice training is open to everyone from the start; Alliance players can begin with trainers such as Betty Quin in Stormwind's Mage Quarter, while Horde players have equivalents such as Jhag in Orgrimmar. Each higher rank is taught by its own specific trainer, and Artisan is taught by Annora inside Uldaman for either faction.

  1. Apprentice: no requirements, raises your skill cap to 75.
  2. Journeyman: needs 50 Enchanting skill and character level 10, raises your cap to 150.
  3. Expert: needs 125 Enchanting skill and character level 20, raises your cap to 225.
  4. Artisan: needs 200 Enchanting skill and character level 35, raises your cap to 300.

How to level Enchanting efficiently

Tailoring is the natural second profession. It turns cloth, which drops freely off enemies with no gathering profession needed, into uncommon or better greens you can disenchant yourself for materials, instead of buying them on the auction house.

Enchanting also makes Wizard Oils, temporary spell power coatings for weapons. The 24 September 2026 build reverted Minor Wizard Oil to its Classic Era value of 8 spell power, Lesser Wizard Oil to 16, and Wizard Oil to 24, while Brilliant Wizard Oil stayed the same. If you were judging these off an earlier beta build, recheck the current numbers before stocking up.

Enchanting in Forever means constant decisions about what to craft next, and whether a finished item is worth more to a player than to an NPC. The Wowdee add-on + app will turn your current Enchanting skill and known recipes into a shopping list for your next useful craft, flagging low-return results like the new 1 copper wands before you spend materials on them.

Still to come

Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:

  • Whether the Arcane Salvager's disenchanting bonus survives to launch unchanged or gets clarified after EU forum feedback
  • Whether Blizzard documents the Greater Magic Wand's cheaper Forever recipe (two Lesser Magic Essence instead of Classic Era's one Greater Magic Essence) in an official patch note, especially now that the wand's vendor value is gone too
  • Final confirmed stat lines for every new relic recipe (Idols, Librams, Totems) once Blizzard locks them in before launch
  • The Arcane Salvager's confirmed skill requirement and acquisition path, beyond beta guides and player reports
