How the transmute works

Zockify's Alchemy recipe data and its Mining guide agree on the formula: one Heavy Thorium Bar plus one Fel Crystal makes a Legionite Bar, and the transmute needs Alchemy 275. The bar is a reagent for several new endgame Blacksmithing recipes, so its real customer is a blacksmith, not the alchemist who makes it.

Neither the recipe's source nor any cooldown appears in the data read for this guide. The closest parallel is Transmute: Arcanite at the same skill, a Thorium Bar plus an Arcane Crystal, which Zockify also lists without a known source yet.

Hand-inked illustration of two hoppers, one holding a grey ingot and the other a green crystal, piped through a red-spoked valve wheel into a green channel that feeds a green bar in a mould, under the words Crystal + Heavy Thorium.
One bar plus one crystal makes a Legionite Bar; the supply of both inputs is still unknown.

Two inputs, two open questions

Heavy Thorium Bar comes from Smelt Heavy Thorium at Mining 300, and Zockify says the ore's locations and required skill aren't known yet. Fel Crystal has no source listed in the data read here at all. The transmute is ready on paper, but there is no supply route to plan yet.

Fel Crystal is also contested. Zockify's Enchanting data lists it in two new two-hand weapon enchants, four crystals apiece.

Who should hold what

Until the inputs have a source, the useful decisions are about who keeps what.

  1. Alchemists: the transmute asks for less skill than its input. You can use it at 275, but the Heavy Thorium Bar needs a smelter at Mining 300, so pair up with a miner or plan to buy bars.
  2. Blacksmiths: Legionite is your reagent. Which recipes need it, and how many bars each, isn't public, so don't pre-buy.
  3. Enchanters: every Fel Crystal spent on Legionite is one fewer for the two Mighty two-hand enchants.
  4. Everyone: keep any Fel Crystal you find instead of vendoring it.

Still to come

Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:

  • Where Fel Crystal comes from.
  • Where the Transmute: Legionite recipe is learned, and whether it has a cooldown.
  • Whether the transmute needs a Philosopher's Stone, or the Alchemist's Stone that Zockify says can stand in for one.
  • The Blacksmithing recipes that use Legionite Bar, and how many bars each needs.
  • Where Heavy Thorium Ore spawns, and the Mining skill it needs.
