What changed for Alchemy in WoW: Forever
Alchemy still turns herbs and vials into potions, elixirs and flasks, but Forever moves the standard healing-potion line out of Alchemy and into First Aid. Alchemists get a different consumable instead: Discolored Healing Potion and its upgrades restore health instantly, then apply roughly 75% of that amount back as a short poison or disease.
The Forever beta's recipe list runs to 179 Alchemy recipes. Seventy of those are new, nine carry changed reagents from Classic, and the rest work the same as they always have.
Alchemy also plugs into two new systems. Craftsman's Writs are random crafting orders you get from Sealed Writs that drop from enemies as you play. Hand one in with the requested Alchemy item and you earn reputation with the Azeroth Commerce Authority on the Alliance side, or Durotar Supply and Logistics on the Horde side: 75 reputation at Journeyman rank, 125 at Expert, 200 at Artisan. Reaching 150, 225 and 300 skill each grants one Legacy Point, so leveling the profession on a single character now feeds your account-wide Legacy progress too. At 300 skill, 1,000 Merchant's Favor buys an Alchemy Certification that unlocks the account-wide title "the Alchemist," though each character still needs 300 skill to display it.

Why is skill 75 to 90 the hardest stretch to level?
Moving healing potions to First Aid fixed one problem and opened another. On 5 October 2026, a beta tester wrote on the official forums that between roughly skill 80 and 90 your only trainer-taught options are Minor Mana Potion, Minor Rejuvenation Potion and Elixir of Minor Fortitude, and all three are already yellow, meaning a reduced chance of a skill-up, by that point.
The published 1–300 guide uses Elixir of Minor Fortitude from 65 to 90 and says it turns yellow at 80; it lists Elixir of Wisdom at 90. The guide says its Forever route was not tested beyond the beta’s level cap.
For the published trainer route, leave room for extra Elixir of Minor Fortitude crafts from 80 to 90: the recipe turns yellow at 80, and Elixir of Wisdom is listed next at 90. The forum report also notes dropped or limited-vendor alternatives, so the guide does not rule those out.
New recipes worth keeping, from potions to flasks
Several of the 70 new recipes are bought for Merchant's Favor at the Azeroth Commerce Authority camp at Three Corners in Redridge Mountains, or the matching Durotar Supply and Logistics camp outside the Crossroads for the Horde. They add two thrown AoE potions, Caustic Smog Potion and Disorienting Smog Potion, two damage-over-time potions, several 30-second stat potions and a run of 30-minute elixirs for healing, spell damage and raw stats.
At character level 55 and Alchemy 300, the profession also crafts four two-hour "Natural" flasks: Natural Accuracy, Natural Aggression, Natural Precision and Natural Swiftness. Each gives +60 Stamina plus one combat bonus, extra hit chance, crit, a reduced chance for your attacks to be dodged or parried, or haste, that only works in Mount Hyjal, Hyjal Summit and the Barrow Deeps. Check you are heading to one of those three zones before you buy a stack. The secondary bonus does nothing anywhere else, and only one flask effect applies at a time.
Alchemist's Stone and Mixology, the profession's own perks
Guides describe one personal buff for Alchemy, Mixology: an alchemist's own elixirs and flasks would last twice as long and work roughly 25% stronger, though the bonus only triggers when the alchemist drinks their own craft, and it never touches potions. Treat the numbers as reported rather than confirmed: a 1 October 2026 profession-wide beta guide said it could not confirm individual profession passive bonuses like this one in the current client data, even though two Alchemy-specific guides describe this one with exact numbers.
Its other personal reward is the Alchemist's Stone, a trinket you craft at skill 275 and character level 45. It substitutes for a Philosopher's Stone on transmutes and increases what your own healing and mana potions do for you, so it is worth making even if you never sell a single flask.
How do you unlock the Alchemy Laboratory at camp?
Alchemy's camp chain needs a nearby campfire and climbs in three steps, each one replacing the last on the same fire. Only the first step comes just from reaching its skill level; the second and third are Blueprint recipes that drop from specific dungeon bosses, and which boss drops which Blueprint has not been published yet.
All camping features, not only Alchemy's, share a single one-hour cooldown, so place your upgrade before a group settles in rather than mid-pull.
Working out which recipe is cheapest on your realm, and how many Earthroot or Mageroyal you still need to clear the 75 to 90 stretch, is exactly the kind of running list the Wowdee add-on + app will keep for you: a profession shopping list that updates as you craft, so you always know what to buy before you log off.
- At skill 20, place a Mana Well, taught automatically once you hit that skill. Everyone sitting near it regenerates mana over time, though the effect will not stack with Blessing of Wisdom.
- At skill 140, learn Blueprint: Fermenter from a dungeon boss drop, then place it instead. It keeps the Mana Well's regeneration and adds the ability to brew certain reagents at camp.
- At skill 300, learn Blueprint: Alchemy Laboratory from a dungeon boss drop, then place it. It keeps every earlier benefit and turns the campfire into a full station for recipes that need one.
Still to come
Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:
- The skill 225 to 300 route is untested live because the beta level cap has stayed low, so later recipe availability and skill-up colors are unconfirmed.
- Whether Blizzard adjusts the skill 75-90 gap before launch, after the 5 October 2026 forum feedback.
- Full tooltip values for several new recipes still tagged with an undiscovered reagent in beta data.
- Whether Mixology is confirmed in current beta client data at all: Icy Veins and Zockify's Alchemy page describe it as live with exact numbers, but Zockify's profession-wide guide said on 1 October 2026 it could not confirm bonuses like this one.
- Which dungeon boss drops the Fermenter and Alchemy Laboratory Blueprints; beta drop tables for camp upgrades have not been published.
