What Blizzard has shown

Blizzard confirmed at BlizzCon that Forsaken Paladins get their own epic mount quest at level 60. Warcraft Tavern and LFCarry both report the framing: Alliance Paladins claim their charger in the name of Redemption, while the Forsaken follow the path of Retribution.

LFCarry describes two looks Blizzard showed for the mount, a skeletal horse in skull-and-gold barding and a skull-helmed ram in gold plate. It also says plainly that the quest name, the item and the exact steps have not been published.

Retribution here is the quest's theme. Nothing published ties it to the Retribution talent tree, and LFCarry reads the mount as available to every Forsaken Paladin.

The mount is confirmed for level 60; the route to it is still rolled up.

Don't borrow the Alliance route

Classic's Alliance charger chain is well documented, and it is tempting to assume the Forsaken version mirrors it. Nothing published supports that. The two quests have different themes and the Forsaken Paladin's class story has its own hub, so expect different givers and steps until Blizzard shows them.

Wolfsbane is a separate weapon quest, not a step towards the mount.

What you can sort out before 60

Bandarion Keep, in the Whispering Wood of north-west Tirisfal Glades, is where Forsaken Paladins receive most of their class quests, from around level 10 according to LFCarry. Blizzard's 8 October notes raised the level of the quests and creatures around Shadowvale and Bandarion Keep because they were turning green before players reached them, so expect them to sit closer to your level now.

Riding works differently for everyone. Blizzard's Deep Dive recap moves the up-front mount cost into training, so you get a mount when you learn the riding skill, and Warcraft Tavern says Paladins still receive a unique warhorse at 40. LFCarry notes that Blizzard hasn't put a gold cost in its own posts; Wowdee's mount guide covers the figures developers have given in interviews.

Still to come

Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:

  • The quest's name, its starting NPC and whether it begins at Bandarion Keep.
  • The steps, any dungeon or group requirements, and gold or material costs.
  • How the horse and ram looks are awarded.
  • An official riding training cost in Blizzard's own posts.
