Where the Ruins of Lordaeron entrance is
Ruins of Lordaeron is one of nine new dungeons Blizzard announced for WoW: Forever at the 12 September 2026 What's Next panel, built around the Forsaken trying to reclaim their old capital. The entrance sits above the Undercity, on the Tirisfal Glades side of the ruined keep, not inside the Undercity itself. Beta guides place it near the eastern edge of the keep's main courtyard, right where the King's Alley corridor begins.
- Horde: ride to Tirisfal Glades, or take the zeppelin from Orgrimmar (Tauren and Skyborne connect through Mulgore first), then walk up from the Undercity to the ruined keep above it.
- Alliance: sail from Stormwind Harbor to Auberdine, then to Menethil Harbor, then on to Southshore, and walk north into Tirisfal Glades; Alliance Skyborne can shortcut through the Stormwind-to-Dalaran portal.

What level should you be?
Blizzard gave Ruins of Lordaeron an official level band of 15 to 20 in a 15 September 2026 forum post listing ranges for all nine new dungeons. The 1 October 2026 beta notes separately list it among dungeons already available, alongside places like the Deadmines and Wailing Caverns. Beta guides mostly agree: Icy Veins also lists level 15 to 20, though Method puts it at 16 to 22 and Mobalytics notes the in-game tooltip advertises 11 to 24 while recommending level 15 as a practical floor.
Treat that spread as a moving target rather than a hard rule. Blizzard already cut the bonus experience from dungeon quests by half in the same 1 October build, and the recommended level for a dungeon this new can still shift before the 4 November 2026 launch.
The six bosses, and one rare
Beta guides agree on six bosses, and the dungeon branches enough that groups do not always meet them in the same order. Witherfang patrols King's Alley near the entrance and poisons the tank. The Baron waits down a southeast hallway with a cleave that punishes anyone standing in front of him and a knockback that can dump threat onto whoever it hits next. Beta guides disagree on Bjork's mechanics: Icy Veins describes a knockback, while Method lists an Anti-Magic Shield. Clear nearby trash and check the current build before relying on either description.
Two bosses have to be summoned rather than pulled. Viktor the Vile appears after you light a campfire in a ruined house southwest of the courtyard and survive several waves of skeletons. The Abandoned rises from a glowing statue further west after three more waves, then fights with Frost Nova, a slowing Frost Armor, and a Drain Life worth interrupting. Rath'mael, a mage visible from much of the dungeon, closes the run with a Flamestrike that needs a kick or a stun.
A seventh fight, the Lordaeron Captain, is a rare spawn that only appears once the six bosses are down. Only Horde characters can kill him; Alliance players find him friendly.
How to prepare for your first run
Beta testers on the official forums praised the dungeon's open layout on 20 September 2026 for rewarding exploration, then flagged real gaps: a locked stairwell door near The Abandoned and Rath'mael that never opens, a set of rooftop gargoyles with no payoff after you kill them, and a dungeon that is genuinely hard to backtrack through once you reach the far end. Dying near the back means a long walk past patrols to get back in, so keep track of the way you came.
The Wowdee add-on will track which Ruins of Lordaeron quests you still need by faction, check off each boss as your group clears it, and flag the Crest of Lordaeron pickup when it spawns nearby.
- Pick up the Horde quests first: A Frightened Request from Tabitha Heartweaver in Silverpine Forest, Light's Justice and The New Plague from NPCs in the Undercity, and The Wrath of Rath'mael from Deathguard Kristof outside it.
- Alliance groups should grab Abominable Creatures from Captain Truman at the dungeon entrance; the rest of the Alliance quests come from items found inside.
- Carry at least one interrupt or stun for The Abandoned's Drain Life and Rath'mael's Flamestrike, and hold mana in reserve for the two summoned-boss encounters.
- Watch for the Crest of Lordaeron pickup quest, which spawns in a different spot each run: behind a door near The Baron, along Bjork's patrol route, or on the rooftop walkways.
Still to come
Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:
- Official Blizzard entrance coordinates, rather than the figures third-party beta guides give.
- Whether the locked stairwell door and the rooftop gargoyle event lead anywhere by launch.
- Final loot tables and item levels once the beta's gear curve settles.
- Whether clearing all six bosses feeds a Legacy Challenge of its own, as some raid clears already do.
