What the City of Dalaran dungeon is
City of Dalaran is one of nine new dungeons Blizzard announced for WoW: Forever, alongside places like the Hall of Thanes and the Ruins of Lordaeron. It sits in the Alterac Mountains, where the original, land-bound Dalaran stood before the Third War left it in ruins. That part is Classic background, not a new Forever reveal, but it matters here: this is not the floating city later built over Northrend. Forever's version stays on the ground.
Blizzard's premise is a disruption that has thrown the city into chaos. The Kirin Tor raised a magical barrier over it, and the developers said at the BlizzCon What's Next panel that they would find "some roundabout way" to get players inside. No further detail on that route has been confirmed since.
Blizzard invited BlizzCon attendees to try The Drowned City on the show floor. Separately, wowforeverguides.com links a 13 September pre-beta City of Dalaran run by Xaryu. That preview does not mean the dungeon is open in the current public beta.

Level range: 28 to 33
Blizzard corrected an early mix-up and posted the full nine-dungeon bracket on 15 September 2026: City of Dalaran is for levels 28 to 33. That puts it after Excavation Site: Wetlands (announced 24 to 29) and ahead of The Drowned City (35 to 40) in Forever's new dungeon lineup. Treat the number as a planning range, not a guarantee: Excavation Site: Wetlands launched in the beta at 26 to 31, a few levels off its announced bracket.
How do you get into Dalaran in WoW: Forever?
You don't get in yet. City of Dalaran is not on the playable dungeon list in the 1 October 2026 beta notes, and it stayed off the same build that added Excavation Site: Wetlands and raised the level cap to 30. Blizzard designer Josh Greenfield confirmed on 1 October that City of Dalaran is coming in a future beta update, not this one.
The outside world has moved a little. The 24 September 2026 notes adjusted faction spawns "in the area just outside the city entrance," so the approach already exists even though the door does not open yet. Treat any specific entrance route you see on fan sites as a guess until Blizzard confirms one.
Bosses, quests and loot: preview reports
Blizzard's panel recap does not give a boss roster, quest chain or loot table. The wowforeverguides.com guide reproduces Wowhead's seven-boss preview list and links a pre-beta run. Treat those as preview reporting until the dungeon opens in the public beta, rather than a verified current-build walkthrough.
Once Blizzard turns City of Dalaran on, Wowdee can flag the moment it goes live and show the entrance, bosses, quests and loot as each one is confirmed.
Still to come
Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:
- The confirmed entrance and route once Blizzard opens the dungeon.
- The real boss order, quest chain and loot, verified instead of datamined.
- Which beta build adds City of Dalaran (Blizzard has only said a future one).
