What changed in the LFG tool?
Players using Looking For Group in the WoW: Forever beta must now choose one of four playstyles before looking for a dungeon group: Learning, Relaxed, Competitive or Carry Offered. Warcraft Tavern documented the change on 2 October 2026, and Wowhead covered it on 7 October. This is a beta interface change, not a newly announced dungeon difficulty.
Warcraft Tavern reported that the labels had no accompanying descriptions explaining their precise meaning. Treat them as the start of a conversation about your group’s expectations. The suggestions below are our practical reading of the labels, not official definitions or promises about the people you will meet.

Learning and Relaxed: time to ask questions
Learning is the clearest choice to discuss when someone wants explanations of the route, pulls or bosses. Say what you are learning: a first visit, a new tank role or a quest you have never completed. A short note such as “first time tanking; please explain the boss” communicates more than the label alone.
Relaxed suggests a group comfortable with a less hurried pace. That does not automatically mean everyone is new, or that every quest detour is included. Ask whether the group plans a full clear, needs quest objectives or expects breaks. A veteran playing a quiet evening and a newcomer exploring every room may still want different runs.
Competitive and Carry Offered need a conversation
Competitive can signal an interest in a fast, prepared run. It does not establish a minimum gear level, a timer or a new ranked dungeon mode. If that is the run you want, tell the group what preparation and route knowledge you expect instead of assuming the word makes those requirements clear.
Carry Offered is a label in the tool. It does not explain the arrangement, establish a price or settle the rules around any particular service. Before joining, ask what is being offered and what is expected in return. Do not interpret the presence of a category as Blizzard endorsing every advertisement placed in it.
A playstyle cannot guarantee a compatible group. Read the listing and talk to the leader, especially when your goal is something specific such as finishing dungeon quests or practicing healing rather than completing the fastest possible run.
Choose a playstyle before you set out
Make your listing or first message concrete. “Learning Deadmines, doing quests, first-time healer” tells prospective party members what they are agreeing to. A vague “chill run” leaves the most useful details unsaid.
The labels are still part of the beta, so recheck them after interface updates. Neither report supplies official definitions or documents exactly how the selection affects filtering and matching. Choose the closest label and make the details explicit in chat.
- Choose the dungeon and decide whether the goal is learning, quest completion or a quicker clear.
- Select the closest available playstyle in LFG.
- Tell the group your role, experience and any quest stops you need.
- Agree on pace and expectations before everyone travels to the entrance.
Still to come
Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:
- Official descriptions defining each of the four playstyle labels.
- Documentation of exactly how playstyle selection affects LFG filtering or matching.
- Whether the four labels and the required selection remain unchanged for launch.
