How many dungeons does WoW Forever have?
WoW: Forever launches with nine brand new dungeons added on top of the Classic roster, confirmed by Blizzard's 12 September 2026 What's Next panel: Hall of Thanes, the Ruins of Lordaeron, the excavation site above Whelgar's Excavation (now named Excavation Site: Wetlands in the beta), the City of Dalaran, the Drowned City, Krol'dok Stronghold, Alcaz Prison, Blackmaw Hold, and Shaper's Terrace.
Blizzard has not published a single total count for the dungeon list. Zockify's full dungeon table, last updated 4 October 2026, counts 20 Classic instances (counting Scarlet Monastery's four wings as one dungeon) plus the nine new ones, for 29 dungeons total.
All of it sits inside the same level 1-60 journey the panel describes. There is no separate new-dungeon wing or hub; each one drops into an existing zone, old or new.

The nine new dungeons by level
The panel named all nine new dungeons, and three days later Blizzard published an exact level range for all nine in a 15 September 2026 forum post that also corrected an earlier Krol'dok Stronghold mistake. Here is each dungeon's official level range, and how many are already open while the beta's level cap is still well below 60.
- Hall of Thanes, beneath Ironforge. Already enterable in the beta. Blizzard's own 15 September 2026 forum post sets Hall of Thanes at levels 13 to 18, the same band Overgear independently reports.
- Ruins of Lordaeron, tied to the Forsaken reclaiming it. Already enterable in the beta. Blizzard's own 15 September 2026 forum post sets Ruins of Lordaeron at levels 15 to 20, the same band Overgear reports.
- Excavation Site: Wetlands, above Whelgar's Excavation. Confirmed by Blizzard at levels 26-31 in the 1 October 2026 beta notes.
- City of Dalaran, investigating magical trouble in the city. Opened for testing on 8 October. Blizzard's own 15 September 2026 forum post sets City of Dalaran at levels 28 to 33.
- The Drowned City, naga and pirates. Not yet in the beta. Blizzard's own 15 September 2026 forum post sets The Drowned City at levels 35 to 40, the same band Overgear and Mobalytics independently report. Its zone is disputed, see below.
- Krol'dok Stronghold, a troll stronghold in the new Riverglades zone. Not yet in the beta. Blizzard's own 15 September 2026 forum post sets Krol'dok Stronghold at levels 40 to 45, the same band Overgear reports.
- Alcaz Prison, on Alcaz Island in Dustwallow Marsh. Not yet in the beta. Blizzard's own 15 September 2026 forum post sets Alcaz Prison at levels 48 to 53, the same band Overgear reports.
- Blackmaw Hold, corruption stirring in its depths, in Azshara. Not yet in the beta. Blizzard's own 15 September 2026 forum post sets Blackmaw Hold at levels 55 to 60, the same band Overgear reports.
- Shaper's Terrace, titan mysteries in Un'Goro Crater. Not yet in the beta. Blizzard's own 15 September 2026 forum post sets Shaper's Terrace at levels 58 to 60, the same band Overgear reports.
Which Classic dungeons are already open in the beta?
As of the 1 October 2026 beta build, the level cap sits at 30, so only the lowest dungeons are actually testable. That build's official notes list 11 dungeons as already available: Ragefire Chasm, Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron, Wailing Caverns, The Deadmines, Shadowfang Keep, The Stockade, Blackfathom Deeps, Gnomeregan, Razorfen Kraul, and Scarlet Monastery. The same notes newly opened Razorfen Downs at level 25 and up, and Uldaman at level 30 and up, and added Excavation Site: Wetlands at levels 26-31.
The same notes also cut dungeon quest experience. Dungeon quests now give 50% less of the bonus experience they used to grant beyond a normal quest's reward, after Blizzard said testers were leveling too fast. Zockify already rates dungeon mob kills as lower XP than the quests tied to the same dungeon. Gather the dungeon quests before forming your group. On 8 October, dungeon creature-kill XP increased approximately 20% and mixed-level party XP calculation reverted to per-member Classic Era behavior. Repeat clears can be worthwhile for XP, unfinished quests and loot; the earlier quest-bonus cut remains separate.
The Classic dungeons still waiting on a higher cap
Nine Classic dungeons from the original level 60 game have not shown up in the beta's official lists yet, because the test cap has not reached their level range. In Classic terms, Zockify's dungeon list puts Zul'Farrak and Maraudon at recommended level 42, the Temple of Atal'Hakkar at 45, Blackrock Depths at 48, both Blackrock Spires at 53, Dire Maul at 54, Stratholme at 55, and Scholomance at 57.
Nothing in Blizzard's notes says any of these are being cut. The same 1 October notes already mix Classic dungeons with the new Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron in one "already available" list, which is Blizzard's own confirmation that the Classic roster is staying. Expect the rest to open as the beta's level cap keeps climbing toward 60.
Alliance, Horde, and the disputed locations
The new dungeons lean into one faction's story more than the other's. Ruins of Lordaeron is written around the Forsaken reclaiming Lordaeron, and Hall of Thanes sits under the dwarven capital of Ironforge, giving Alliance a low-level dungeon in roughly the same early bracket Horde already had with Ragefire Chasm. Krol'dok Stronghold's troll theme sits inside Riverglades, the new frontier zone Forever adds for the mid-30s to mid-40s stretch of leveling.
None of that is a lock on who can walk in. In Classic, no dungeon ever required a specific faction to zone in, not even Ragefire Chasm inside Orgrimmar, and the Forever beta notes do not say that changed. The Drowned City is the one location question left on the map: Zockify and Mobalytics place it off Stranglethorn Vale, Overgear places it in Riverglades, and nothing official has settled it yet.
The Wowdee add-on will read your character's level against every dungeon that is open, old or new, and tell you which one is worth queueing for tonight instead of the one you keep defaulting to.
Still to come
Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:
- Whether any new dungeon ends up faction-restricted to enter, not just faction-themed.
- The Drowned City's zone: Stranglethorn Vale or Riverglades, sources disagree and Blizzard has not said.
- Boss names and counts for all nine new dungeons.
- The exact beta dates each remaining Classic dungeon reopens as the level cap keeps rising toward 60.
