How to fish in WoW: Forever
Fishing in WoW: Forever starts the way it always has. You train with a fishing trainer, equip a pole, and cast near water. The core loop, described in a detailed player breakdown on the Blizzard forums, has not changed: cast, wait for the splash, and interact with the bobber before the timer runs out.
What is new sits on top of that loop, in a camp you build yourself and a tournament that now rewards more than one winner.
- Learn Fishing from a trainer, equip a pole, and cast near water while out of combat.
- Wait for the bobber to splash, then interact with it before the cast runs out. A full cast can take up to 30 seconds.
- Train Journeyman at Fishing 50, which beta testers also gate at level 10, then fish in a capital city to reach 150. At Fishing 125 and character level 20, buy the Expert Fishing book to raise your skill cap to 225.
- At Fishing 225 and character level 35, start Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme in Dustwallow Marsh. Beta guides agree it sends you after four quest fish to push toward the 300 Artisan cap, though Blizzard itself has not confirmed the requirements.

Fish Bowl, Fishing Rack and Fishing Hut
WoW: Forever's Camping system gives every profession three craftable camp objects, and Fishing's set is built around your Fishing skill rather than your character level. Blizzard's deep dive confirmed the shape of the system: the first object comes at skill 20, more advanced ones come from Blueprint recipes that drop off dungeon bosses, and every object on one campfire shares a one-hour cooldown.
The Fish Bowl needs Fishing 20 and costs a Raw Brilliant Smallfish and an Empty Vial. Placed by a campfire, it gives everyone sitting nearby 8% to all stats, but it does not stack with Blessing of Kings, so skip it in a group a Paladin already covers.
The Fishing Rack needs Fishing 140 plus 2 Simple Wood, a Crystal Vial, and 2 Raw Mithril Head Trout. It opens access to uncommon fish for one hour and keeps the Fish Bowl's stat bonus. The Fishing Hut needs Fishing 300 plus 5 Simple Wood, 2 Bolt of Runecloth, and seasonal fish steaks. It does the same for rare fish. Either object can replace a Fish Bowl already on the fire, and a Forever news breakdown of the item records confirms the 20, 140, and 300 numbers are Fishing skill, not character level.
The wowforever.be beta guide lists Gelihast in Blackfathom Deeps as the Fishing Rack blueprint source. It does not identify the Fishing Hut blueprint source.
The Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza rework
Classic's Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza, the weekly fishing tournament in Stranglethorn Vale, rewarded one winner: whoever turned in 40 Speckled Tastyfish first. Beta reports on the Blizzard forums, cross-checked against independent Forever coverage, say Forever now rewards the first 50 anglers who make that same turn-in.
Winners still get the Classic reward, the Arcanite Fishing Pole, and now also an Extravagant Extravaganza Coin, exchanged for a set of fishing rewards. One detailed player report lists them as the Hook of the Master Angler trinket, which transforms you into a fish, lets you breathe water, and swim faster; Surfer Shoes, for water walking up to 5 minutes on a 1-minute cooldown; a cosmetic Master Angler's Fishing Hat; a cosmetic Empty Fish Bucket offhand; and a worm pet called Bitter Baitling.
Winning also grants a Master Angler title buff. A Forever news breakdown of the item record puts it at about six and a half days before you need to win again to keep it.
Luremaster and other fishing perks
Fishing gets its own perk in the Legacy system’s Professions tree. Blizzard confirms Luremaster grants a chance to fish up an extra fish, without publishing the odds. Datamined beta tooltips, matched across several Forever guides, show two ranks: 25% at rank 1 and 50% at rank 2. One Blizzard-forums player report summarizes the 50% result without specifying its rank, so treat any specific number as beta-sourced, not Blizzard-confirmed.
Two Resourcefulness perks help a fisher as well. Permanence lengthens camping buffs, which would stretch the Rack and Hut's one-hour window. Reagent Economy is written to remove materials from tier-one camping features, the category the Fish Bowl sits in, but a fan check of the 3 October 2026 beta client tooltip did not show that effect live, so treat it as announced, not yet confirmed in game. Fishing is also a secondary profession, so its skill milestones do not earn Legacy Tradeskill points, a category that only counts non-gathering primary professions.
Wowdee will turn your Fishing skill into a checklist for the Fishing Rack and Fishing Hut: the skill points still needed and the reagents to gather for each.
Still to come
Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:
- The Fishing Hut blueprint source, and confirmation of the Fishing Rack's reported Gelihast drop.
- The exact Luremaster proc chance by rank; Blizzard has not published one, and only datamined beta tooltips give the 25%/50% figures.
- Confirmed fish tables for the new leveling zones, including Zephras Isle, Riverglades, and Mount Hyjal.
- Which specific uncommon and rare fish the Fishing Rack and Fishing Hut actually unlock.
