What the Professions tree covers
The Professions Legacy tree is one of three Legacy trees in WoW: Forever, alongside Adventure and Resourcefulness. It holds seven perks that touch tradeskill skill-ups, gathering, vendor prices, cooking, fishing, and the Merchant's Favor you earn from the Azeroth Commerce Authority (Alliance) or Durotar Supply and Logistics (Horde).
Working Overtime raises your chance to gain a skill point in any tradeskill, including class ones like Lockpicking. Bountiful Harvest finds more Scarce materials from mining, herbalism, and skinning. Bartering cuts vendor prices, and Performance Bonus sometimes doubles the Merchant's Favor from a crate turn-in. Master Chef and Luremaster give cooking and fishing a chance to produce extra, and Dedicated Study is a daily cooldown that raises your lowest tradeskill, or grants Elemental Essences once your professions are maxed.

How much does each perk cost?
Every rank in the Professions tree costs one Legacy Point, and the tree has 23 ranks spread across its seven perks, plus two locked slots marked for a future update. That is more than your 16-point launch cap can cover alone, since those 16 points are shared across all three Legacy trees on one character.
Working Overtime and Bountiful Harvest are open from your first point. Bartering, Master Chef, and Luremaster each need 5 points already spent in the Professions tree. Performance Bonus needs those same 5 points, plus Bountiful Harvest at its max rank. Dedicated Study needs 10 points spent in the tree and Bartering at its max rank. These numbers come from the beta client, not a Blizzard patch note, so treat them as subject to change before launch on 4 November 2026.
The seven perks, rank by rank
Working Overtime (5 ranks) adds 4% per rank to your skill-up chance on any primary, secondary, or class tradeskill, for 20% at 5/5. Bountiful Harvest (5 ranks) adds 20% more Scarce materials per rank from mining, herbalism, and skinning, doubling your gathers at 5/5.
Bartering (2 ranks) cuts vendor item prices by 5% per rank, for 10% off at 2/2. Performance Bonus (3 ranks) gives a 5% chance per rank of 100% additional Merchant's Favor on a crate turn-in, for roughly 15% more Favor on average at 3/3.
Master Chef (5 ranks) gives cooking recipes a 10% chance per rank to produce an extra item, for 50% at 5/5. Luremaster (2 ranks) gives a 25% chance per rank to catch an extra fish while a lure is active, for 50% at 2/2.
Dedicated Study is a single-rank ability: a 25-second cast on a 23-hour cooldown that raises your lowest primary or secondary tradeskill by 1 skill point. Once both primary professions and all three secondary tradeskills reach 300, it instead grants Elemental Essences. Warcraft Tavern's BlizzCon tooltip report lists 2 to 4, while its Engineering overview gives 3; the current beta payout needs confirmation.
Testing the tree before launch
On 1 October 2026, Blizzard community manager Kaivax said the beta would grant every tester a full 16 Legacy Points in "a future week," so players could test the system without grinding through levels, dungeons, and tradeskills first. Blizzard said the grant would stay in place until the beta ends, and has not said whether those beta points or perks carry over to launch.
Wowdee will compare the Professions Legacy perks against what your own tradeskills and goals need, so you spend each point on skill-ups, gathering, or Favor instead of guessing.
Still to come
Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:
- Whether these beta client ranks, percentages, and point costs are final, since Blizzard has not published them itself.
- Whether Working Overtime's skill-up bonus is additive percentage points or a percentage of your current chance.
- What the two locked Professions slots marked for a future update will add.
- Whether the exact rank a prerequisite perk needs (Bountiful Harvest for Performance Bonus, Bartering for Dedicated Study) is confirmed, since the client marks the link but data miners are assuming the rank until it can be tested.
- Dedicated Study's current Elemental Essence payout after maxing both primary and all secondary tradeskills.
