What changed for First Aid in WoW: Forever

The headline change is simple to state and big in practice: Healing Potions move out of Alchemy and into First Aid in WoW: Forever. Minor Healing Potion through Major Healing Potion are now First Aid recipes. Blizzard's BlizzCon floor demo first showed First Aid crafting Healing Potions in September 2026, and Icy Veins' and Wowhead's beta coverage since confirmed Alchemy lost the recipes entirely.

Each potion is crafted from a vial, a cooking reagent (Mild Spices or Hot Spices), and one herb. Minor Healing Potion needs an Empty Vial, Mild Spices and Peacebloom. Major Healing Potion needs a Crystal Vial, Soothing Spices and Golden Sansam. Alchemists keep their own Discolored Healing Potions instead, which heal more but carry a poison or disease side effect.

First Aid also gains two new curatives, Poultices for diseases and Tourniquets for bleeds, plus an upgraded Anti-Venom line for poisons. The change drew real debate on the official forums. Some players disliked tying a secondary skill to Herbalism and Cooking reagents, while others pointed out it gives herbalists a bigger market now that every character wants First Aid potions.

First Aid stays a secondary skill in Forever. It does not take one of your two profession slots, and skilling it up does not award Legacy Points or a profession title the way Mining or Blacksmithing do.

Dee the knight kneels at a medic tent on Theramore Isle, bandaging a soldier beside healing potion vials, herbs, a tourniquet and a poultice jar.
First Aid now brews the Healing Potions too, not just the bandages.

How to level First Aid from 1 to 300

Leveling First Aid follows Classic's four ranks, and every trainer in a capital city or starting zone teaches both Apprentice and Journeyman, so you never need to hunt down a second trainer early on.

Trainers stop teaching at First Aid 150. Past that wall, buy the Expert First Aid book once you reach 125 skill instead of looking for a new trainer.

  1. Apprentice, First Aid 1 to 75: train for 1 silver from any trainer. Craft Linen Bandage, or Minor and Lesser Healing Potion from Peacebloom or Briarthorn, Mild Spices, and an Empty Vial.
  2. Journeyman, First Aid 75 to 150: train at skill 50 for 5 silver. Craft Wool and Heavy Wool Bandage, or Healing Potion from Bruiseweed, Hot Spices and a Leaded Vial.
  3. Expert, First Aid 150 to 225: buy the Expert First Aid book for 1 gold at skill 125, from Deneb Walker in Stromgarde Keep, Arathi Highlands (Alliance) or Balai Lok'Wein in Brackenwall Village, Dustwallow Marsh (Horde). Craft Silk, Heavy Silk and Mageweave Bandage, Greater Healing Potion, and Leather Tourniquet.
  4. Artisan, First Aid 225 to 300: at level 35 and skill 225, take the Triage quest from Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen on Theramore Isle (Alliance) or Doctor Gregory Victor in Hammerfall (Horde). Save 15 patients with the bandages the quest gives you, then turn in promptly. The beta guide’s post-225 route is untested: it proposes Heavy Mageweave and Runecloth Bandage, Superior and Major Healing Potion, and Surgical Tourniquet.

Poultices, tourniquets and anti-venoms explained

Poultices cure diseases and Tourniquets cure bleeds, and both only work outside combat. Simple, Clever, Superior and Powerful Poultice reach diseases up to level 25, 35, 45 and 65. Woolen, Leather and Surgical Tourniquet cover bleeds up to level 30, 45 and 65.

Anti-Venom can be used in combat, unlike the other two cures. Anti-Venom, Strong Anti-Venom and Potent Anti-Venom reach poisons up to level 25, 35 and 45. Powerful Anti-Venom now reaches level 65 poisons, up from level 60 in Classic, and each craft makes three doses instead of one.

First Aid's camp recipes

First Aid also places camp objects once Cooking has a campfire burning nearby. The First Aid Kit, unlocked through a starting-zone quest around skill 20, grants nearby players Stamina that scales with character level and does not stack with Power Word: Fortitude.

At First Aid 140, Toxin Study replaces the kit with one that also hands out Healing Potions and Anti-Venom. At First Aid 300, Plague Doctor's Laboratory swaps in Healing Potions and Poultices instead. Every First Aid camp feature shares a one-hour cooldown with the game's other camp buffs.

Wowdee will turn this First Aid leveling path into a shopping list sized to your character, so you buy the right stack of vials, spices, cloth and herbs once instead of running back to a vendor every bracket.

Still to come

Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:

  • Where Swollen Venom Sac, the Potent Anti-Venom reagent, drops
  • Who teaches Heavy Mageweave, Runecloth and Heavy Runecloth Bandage in the live game; one untested beta guide guesses the Artisan quest-giver teaches them at skill 240 and 260
  • Confirmed character level requirements to train Journeyman and Expert First Aid; one beta guide reports no level gate on the Expert book, but another says levels for both ranks are still unconfirmed
  • Where 8 of the 9 new First Aid manuals are sold (only Manual: Major Healing Potion has a confirmed seller)
  • Whether a tier above Heavy Runecloth Bandage exists; Zockify names a 'Dense Runecloth Bandage' (300 skill, two Heavy Runecloth Bandage, said to heal around 3,400 over 8 seconds) but the beta datamine's own recipe table does not list it
