Finding Earthseer Farsen

Earthseer Farsen stands overlooking Gol'Bolar Quarry in Dun Morogh, at about 64.8, 58.4 according to Warcraft Wiki's Forever entry. He is a dwarf visiting from Aerie Peak who has noticed a Dark Iron problem and offers to show it to you with a bit of magic.

The wiki lists Farsen's Watch as a level 13 quest that you can accept from level 9. A Visitor to Dun Morogh leads to him, but it is an optional breadcrumb, so you can walk straight up to him. He also takes the turn-in, so you never leave the overlook. The quest is new to Forever and pays Ironforge and Gnomeregan Exiles reputation, which places it on the Alliance road through Dun Morogh.

Farsen's farsight shows you the Dark Iron problem; the fighting starts with the next quest.

How the farsight works now

The objective is short: speak to Farsen, ask to borrow his farsight, and use it. What you see is the Dark Iron presence around the quarry. At turn-in, Farsen calls them thick as cockroaches, and that's only the ones visible from the sky.

Blizzard changed the controls on 8 October. Moving and turning no longer cancel Far Sight during this quest, so a stray key or mouse nudge won't throw you out of the view. You can still right-click to end it at any time.

Rewards and where the chain leads

The wiki lists 680 experience, 75 Ironforge reputation and 75 Gnomeregan Exiles reputation for the turn-in. Farsen's closing line asks whether you are up for a bit of violence, which is the next quest.

Warcraft Wiki says Farsen's Watch begins the attunement chain for Hall of Thanes, but it doesn't say whether that attunement gates entry to the dungeon or leads only into its quests. The official 8 October note we checked covers just the farsight controls, so neither reading is confirmed. What the chain clearly does is lead into the dungeon's quests: its fourth step, Old Ironforge Incursion, is itself a dungeon quest, and the wiki lists four more after it.

  1. Farsen's Watch, level 13.
  2. Nip 'Em in the Bud, level 13.
  3. Underground Map, level 15.
  4. Old Ironforge Incursion, a level 16 dungeon quest.
  5. The dungeon quests that follow: Important Heirlooms, The Restless Dead, An Ancient Grudge and The Treaty of Understanding.

Still to come

Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:

  • Whether the attunement gates Hall of Thanes entry or only leads into its quests; the wiki uses the label without saying which, and the official notes checked don't address it.
  • Whether the chain's quest levels move before launch; the wiki's values come from the 1.60.1 beta.
