What Recovery does

Recovery is one of the weapon enchants new to WoW: Forever. Blizzard Watch's 21 September beta list gives the whole effect in one line: it triggers when parried or dodged, healing you for 5% of maximum health. Read plainly, that is a small heal whenever an enemy avoids your swing, turning a wasted attack into some staying power.

Blizzard Watch files it under one-handed weapon enchants and warns that enchants can change before launch. No formula entry with Recovery's skill, reagents or recipe source appears in the data read for this guide.

The shield stands in for any avoided swing; Blizzard Watch's list says a parry or dodge heals for 5% of maximum health.

Does it work in Druid forms?

Yes, as of the October 8 beta build. Blizzard's notes list a fix for an issue where Enchant Weapon – Recovery was not working for Druids while shapeshifted.

The same update stopped the Revelation enchant's buff from being removed when its caster shifts into Ghost Wolf or a Druid form, so two of Forever's new weapon enchants now hold up through a shapeshift.

Who it suits, and a catch in the new gear

Recovery trades damage for durability. It takes the weapon slot a damage or stat enchant would otherwise fill and pays out only when enemies parry or dodge, so it fits a melee character grinding long solo fights better than one chasing damage.

There's a catch in Forever's itemization. Blizzard says some new items reduce the chance for attacks to be parried or dodged. If Recovery triggers on your avoided swings, as its wording suggests, that gear and this enchant pull in opposite directions: the better your anti-avoidance stats, the less often Recovery heals you.

Still to come

Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:

  • Where the formula is learned, its Enchanting skill and its reagents.
  • Whether Recovery can go on two-handed weapons such as a Feral Druid's staff, or only one-handers as Blizzard Watch's grouping suggests.
  • Whether ranged attacks or spells can trigger it, and whether it has an internal cooldown.
  • Confirmation from a current tooltip that 'parried or dodged' refers to your attacks.
