One character, the entire map
The challenge asks you to explore the entire world map on the same character. Discoveries don't pool across alts; one character has to uncover the whole map. Finish it and your Battle.net account gains one Adventure Legacy Point for all your non-Hardcore characters.
It's also one of three ways into the Legacy system. Most players open it by reaching level 25, but 150 skill in a non-gathering primary profession or a fully explored world map unlocks it too. After that, the shield icon on the menu or the Y key opens the panel.

What 'entire world map' leaves open
Blizzard hasn't published the list of zones the challenge checks. Forever adds new regions alongside the old continents, and nothing published so far says whether every new region counts, how areas tied to the other faction are handled, or what happens when later content adds more map.
If the challenge stalls short of complete, separate two problems before you go searching: an area you haven't discovered yet, and criteria the current build can't award at all. Blizzard compares Legacy Challenges to achievements, so the challenge's own tracking in the Legacy panel is the thing to check against.
Plan it alongside leveling
Because the point is tied to one character, do it on a character you mean to keep. Most of the map comes naturally while questing, and the leftovers are easier to sweep up once that character can cross dangerous zones safely.
Two changes help with the sweep. Riding follows the Burning Crusade cost model, with the up-front cost moved into training and a mount granted when you learn the skill. In the Adventure perk tree, Frequent Flier makes flights cheaper and faster.
On the PvP ruleset, contested zones carry more risk. Hardcore characters keep their own Legacy ledger: a challenge earned in Hardcore counts in every other ruleset, but nothing earned elsewhere shows up in Hardcore.
Still to come
Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:
- The zones and subzones the challenge checks, including Forever's new regions.
- How faction-restricted or level-locked areas are treated.
- Whether regions added in later content updates join this challenge or arrive as new challenges.
