What level is Ragefire Chasm in WoW Forever?

Ragefire Chasm sits inside the Cleft of Shadow, the lower level of Orgrimmar's cave network. You drop down through the Cleft of Shadow and the instance portal is right there, so there is no outdoor run to the entrance.

Icy Veins' WoW: Forever guide (29 September 2026) tunes the dungeon for levels 13 to 18. Zockify's Forever dungeon page (2 October 2026) calls 13 the recommended level with a floor of 10. The numbers move by a point or two between guides, but they agree on the shape: RFC is the first real dungeon stop for a Horde character, well before level 20.

Every Ragefire Chasm quest can be picked up starting at level 9, so you can collect the chain before you ever open the instance portal.

Ragefire Chasm bosses and loot

Four bosses stand between you and a full clear, in the order most groups meet them: Oggleflint, Taragaman the Hungerer, Jergosh the Invoker, and Bazzalan.

Oggleflint only has a Cleave attack, so the real danger is pulling extra troggs alongside him; he drops the Trogg Scepter, Bone Knuckles, and Barbaric Crossbow. Taragaman the Hungerer stands on the central platform over the lava; his knockback can throw a tank off the edge, and his Fire Nova hits everyone nearby, so ranged damage and healers want distance. He drops the Subterranean Cape, Crystalline Cuffs, and Cursed Felblade. Jergosh the Invoker pulls with two adds and casts Immolate and Curse of Weakness; he drops the Robe of Evocation, Cavedweller Bracers, and Chanting Blade. Bazzalan, up the ramp in the same room as Jergosh, hits harder with Sinister Strike and Deadly Poison and also pulls with two adds; his loot is the Satyrskin Cloak, Chasm Walkers, and Searing Dagger.

The loot table got a Forever-specific pass. Oggleflint and Bazzalan, who dropped almost nothing of note in Classic, now carry new items built for this level range, and the 1 October beta build added Blacksmithing and Leatherworking recipe drops across the dungeon's bosses, on top of the existing gear table.

Every WoW Forever quest for RFC

WoW: Forever quests for RFC run through three Horde cities before they ever send you into the instance. Icy Veins and Zockify both describe the full chain as Horde-only; every giver and turn-in sits in Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff, or Undercity.

That is five quest lines, or six quest entries once you count the Lost Satchel follow-up on its own. Two of them pay no gear: Testing an Enemy's Strength and Slaying the Beast. The other three pay a choice of item: Returning the Lost Satchel offers Featherbead Bracers, Savannah Bracers, or Garrison Cuffs; The Power to Destroy... offers Ghastly Trousers, Dredgemire Leggings, or Gargoyle Leggings; and the Hidden Enemies chain ends, through a follow-up quest, with a choice of the Kris, Hammer, Axe, or Staff of Orgrimmar.

  1. Pick up Testing an Enemy's Strength and Searching for the Lost Satchel from Rahauro in Thunder Bluff's Elder Rise.
  2. Pick up The Power to Destroy... from Varimathras in Undercity.
  3. Pick up Slaying the Beast from Neeru Fireblade and the Hidden Enemies chain from Thrall, both in Orgrimmar; Hidden Enemies needs an earlier step in that chain finished first.
  4. Inside the dungeon, kill Taragaman for Slaying the Beast, loot Maur Grimtotem's corpse for the Lost Satchel follow-up, and kill Jergosh and Bazzalan for Hidden Enemies.
  5. Turn everything in: Testing an Enemy's Strength and the satchel follow-up go back to Rahauro, Slaying the Beast goes back to Neeru Fireblade, The Power to Destroy... goes back to Varimathras, and Hidden Enemies goes back to Thrall.

What changed for Ragefire Chasm in the beta

The WoW: Forever beta notes updated 1 October 2026 made two changes that land directly on RFC. First, dungeon quests now reward 50 percent less bonus experience beyond their normal quest values, after Blizzard said it was responding to feedback about leveling speed. That cut applies to RFC's full quest chain, but guides disagree on the new total, so no confirmed number exists yet. Second, that same build added Blacksmithing and Leatherworking recipes as drops across dungeons, which is why RFC's loot list now includes crafting patterns it never had in Classic.

The same notes confirm Ragefire Chasm is still on the standard dungeon list alongside Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron, Wailing Caverns, the Deadmines, and the rest, even as the level cap rises to 30 and new dungeons like Razorfen Downs and Excavation Site: Wetlands come online above it.

Getting ready for your Ragefire Chasm run

Ragefire Chasm is a quick stop, but tracking five quest lines across three cities and four bosses by hand is easy to get wrong.

The Wowdee add-on + app will turn Ragefire Chasm into one checklist: which quest lines you still need, which boss drop or crafting pattern you are missing, and a flag when a reward beats what you have equipped.

Still to come

Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:

  • Blizzard has not confirmed a single official level range for RFC; guides currently split between 13-18 and 13-19
  • Whether Alliance characters can pick up the quest chain at all, or just struggle to reach Horde-only givers
  • Whether any Ragefire Chasm boss mechanics differ from Classic Era beyond the loot and recipe changes
  • A confirmed, patch-matched total for the full RFC quest chain's experience payout after the 1 October cut
