What the Spellsword is, officially
Hemet Nesingwary's Stranglethorn quests gain at least one new reward in Forever: the Master Hunter's Spellsword. Blizzard's Deep Dive recap mentions it once, as one of the new options in his quests, in the same passage that introduces Mor'ladim's caster ring as an example of rewards expanded to support more classes and roles.
The surrounding text explains the intent. Spellcaster-oriented weapons in Forever now grant spell damage and healing, so casters “can look forward to level-up weapons in the same way Warriors, Rogues, and Hunters do.” The name suggests the Spellsword is one of those weapons, but the recap doesn't list its stats, whether it's one- or two-handed, or which of Nesingwary's quests offers it.

Equip level isn't the quest level
When you can use it has no published answer, and the beta shows why you shouldn't guess from the quest's level. In the October 8 development notes, Blizzard set the Truthseeker's Bow from the Greater Friend of the Library quest to require level 40 to equip, matching that chain's other two rewards. The same notes say a set of new Gelkis and Magram quest rewards in Desolace will require level 35 to equip in an upcoming hotfix.
Reward equip levels are still being tuned separately from the quests that hand them out, so the Spellsword's requirement could sit above the level at which you start Nesingwary's chain.
Planning a caster through Stranglethorn
If you're leveling a caster through Stranglethorn, Nesingwary's quests now have a gear reason to stay in your log as well as experience. Keep them until you can read the reward panel yourself, then compare the Spellsword with the weapon you're actually using rather than assuming a named reward beats a dungeon drop.
Still to come
Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:
- Which Nesingwary quest, and which step of its chain, offers the Spellsword.
- Its stats, handedness and the level required to equip it.
- The other reward choices on the same quest.
- Faction and level requirements for Nesingwary's quests in Forever.
