The four Legacy Rewards at launch

Every Legacy Challenge you finish earns one Legacy Point for your whole Battle.net account. Each character can spend up to 16 of those points on Legacy Perks, the talent-like bonuses you pick in the Legacy pane (press Y, or click the shield icon on the menu bar once you have your first point). Points earned past that 16-point cap do not go to waste: they keep moving you along the Legacy Reward Track, a separate, account-wide line of cosmetics.

Blizzard's Legacy article names four rewards waiting on that track at launch. The Replica Ironforge Air Rifle is a toy for a scored shootout with other players. The Spectral Bear Cub is a pet, inspired by the Dwarven Hunter and his companion from the Forever cinematic. The Spectral Bear Tabard is a tabard. Reins of the Spectral Bear is a mount. None of the four adds power, and Blizzard says more rewards are planned with each content update.

Four rewards. None of them is a stat stick.

How the Replica Ironforge Air Rifle works

Blizzard's own announcement says these toy guns stun other players and keep score. The beta client's item and spell data, current as of the 5 October build, spells out the mechanic: equipping the rifle flags you as fair game to be shot, and using it attempts to stun another player who also has one equipped, on a 3 second cooldown.

What the tooltip does not say is where the duel works. Towns, battlegrounds, open world, all of it is unconfirmed. Treat the rifle as a toy for impromptu fights wherever Blizzard allows it until a beta patch or support article says otherwise.

Legacy Points versus Legacy Perks

The 16-point cap only limits what a single character can spend on Legacy Perks, the talent-like bonuses in the Adventure, Professions, and Resourcefulness trees. Blizzard's Deep Dive recap confirms the account can earn up to 65 Legacy Points at launch, so a character sitting at the 16-point cap still has up to 49 more points to earn.

Those extra points do not sit idle. Every one of them pushes your account further along the Reward Track, which Blizzard describes as cosmetic and prestige only, with no competitive gameplay advantage.

What the point thresholds look like so far

Blizzard has not published the exact point total each reward needs in its own article text. Several independent community guides, each reading the Legacy Reward Track image from Blizzard's BlizzCon Deep Dive panel, land on the same four numbers: 15 points for the Air Rifle, 25 for the Spectral Bear Cub, 40 for the Spectral Bear Tabard, and 55 for Reins of the Spectral Bear. That is a consistent picture, but it is still a reading of an image, not a figure in Blizzard's own article text, so treat it as likely rather than final.

Datamined item tooltips point the rifle, cub, and tabard's hand-in to an innkeeper in Ratchet once you cross a threshold. Nobody has reported reaching the mount's threshold yet, so its hand-in is still unseen.

Wowdee will track your account's total Legacy Points against the Reward Track and flag which cosmetic unlocks next, once those thresholds are confirmed in your own game.

Still to come

Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:

  • Blizzard has not published official Legacy Reward Track point thresholds; the 15/25/40/55 figures are a community reading of an image in Blizzard's own BlizzCon Deep Dive materials, not a number stated in Blizzard's article text.
  • Whether the Air Rifle's stun works in towns, battlegrounds, the open world, or all three is not stated anywhere.
  • Where and how players claim Reins of the Spectral Bear is unseen; no datamined tooltip or beta tester has shown the mount's threshold being reached yet.
