Where the ritual works

Heed My Call is the third step of the level 30 Shaman weapon chain, after Storm, Earth, and Fire. You take the totems to a quilboar ritual in Thousand Needles and use them there to break it. Wow4everNews calls the quest item Corrupted Totems and says to use them at the ritual site your quest marks.

That site is narrower than the quest text suggests. A player writing about the Alliance side on a PvP ruleset reported on 7 October that the text invites you to choose a spot, and the zone warning says to stand near the steam pools. In practice, though, there is one spot marked on the ground. That player described it as the point closest to the Horde, near the Thousand Needles lift and town.

Three weapons to choose from, and the shield comes on top of whichever you take.

The fight and group credit

Using the totems starts waves of elite elementals and Quilltusk quilboar, which wowforever.be puts at level 40. Wow4everNews is direct about it: level 30 unlocks the chain but does not make the final fight soloable. Bring a group.

Blizzard's 8 October notes made the Eye of the Tempest multi-drop, which wowforever.be reads as the Eye now dropping for everyone in the group. One ritual should therefore cover every Shaman present, so before the first wave, check that each of them has Heed My Call in their quest log.

On PvP rulesets, Alliance Shaman have a second problem. The same 7 October report warns that Horde players can drag the quest enemies into their own guards. Bring enough people to hold the spot, or try at a quieter hour.

Turning in the Eye

The Eye goes to Bath'rah the Windwatcher in the Alterac Mountains, at about 80.4, 66.8, for the final quest, The Tempest's Weapons. Wow4everNews has Alliance Shaman report back to Veyric Thunderhame in the Arathi Highlands first. Both guides end with Bath'rah, who wowforever.be notes is the NPC who gives Warriors the Whirlwind Axe.

Which weapon to take

You choose one weapon, and Elementalist's Guard comes as an extra reward. All four items bind when picked up. The stats below are from beta client 1.60.1.70291 as published by Wow4everNews, and wowforever.be lists the weapons at item level 40.

Both fist weapons pair with the shield, so an Elemental or Restoration Shaman leaves with a full main hand and off hand. If you take the two-handed mace, the shield still comes with it, for a caster set or a one-handed build later. Neither guide claims the stats are final.

Beta client values; wowforever.be notes it is not known whether the rewards change again before launch.

Still to come

Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:

  • Whether Blizzard moves the ritual point or adds a second one for Alliance players; the 8 October notes changed only the Eye's drop rule.
  • Required levels to equip the four rewards; the guides list item level and stats, not an equip requirement, and the level 30 pickup says nothing about it.
  • The full Horde turn-in path between the ritual and Bath'rah.
