Totems stopped stacking on 24 September
On the 24 September 2026 beta build, Flametongue Totem lost its duration. Dropping another totem replaces it instantly, and casting it again does not stack it either. It no longer stacks with Flametongue Weapon, and it no longer stacks with Windfury Totem.
Tranquil Air, Windfury, and Grace of Air no longer stack with each other, even when two different shamans in the group each drop one. One air totem is now the group's air buff. Assign it before the pull instead of planting three and hoping one sticks.

Other 24 September changes to shaman spells and talents
Lightning Bolt ranks 3 and 4 got more damage, so they stay upgrades even though their cast times changed. Lava Burst ranks 1 and 2 now hit about 10 percent harder than the Lightning Bolt rank you learn around the same level.
Elemental Fury and Elemental Alacrity swapped rows in the Elemental tree, so the talent Blizzard calls the stronger pick while leveling now comes earlier. Rage of the Far Seer no longer speeds up spell casting. Riptide can now land a critical heal, something it could not do before.
What the 1 October build fixed
The next build, dated 1 October 2026, fixed three more shaman issues. Ghost Wolf form is easier to see in well-lit areas. Totemic Recall now properly returns mana when you pick a totem back up, closing a bug that kept it from refunding anything. Disease Cleansing Totem now lasts its intended 5 minutes.
How do Totemic Recall and Call of the Elements work?
Totemic Recall lets you pick up a planted totem instead of letting it expire. Beta testing by Mobalytics puts the refund at roughly 25 percent of that totem's mana cost per totem recalled. Blizzard has not published an exact number, so treat that figure as beta testing, not a patch note.
Call of the Elements drops up to four totems from a totem bar you set in advance, after a 3 second cast, instead of placing each one by hand. Two variants, Call of the Ancestors and Call of the Spirits, carry their own totem bars, so you can keep separate loadouts ready. Totemic Projection is also in testing; the same guide describes it moving your planted totems to a spot you designate within 30 feet, though Blizzard has not detailed it in patch notes yet.
Mindfulness changes how far your mana goes
Mindfulness is a new Restoration talent with 3 ranks. By Mobalytics' testing, each rank lets 17, 33, or 50 percent of your mana regeneration keep ticking while you cast, instead of stopping the moment you open your mouth. Mana Tide Totem also moved down to row 3 of the Restoration tree, so Elemental and Enhancement shamans can reach both talents with a shallower dip outside their main tree, not just dedicated healers.
Shaman also has new doors in from each faction. Dwarves can now become shamans for the Alliance, and the Horde-aligned Windshaper Skyborne can too, alongside the usual orc, tauren, and troll.
When your group has two shamans, Wowdee's group prep checklist will flag which air totem to assign before the pull, so Flametongue and Windfury don't quietly cancel each other out.
Still to come
Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:
- The rest of the Elemental, Enhancement, and Restoration talent trees beyond these patch notes.
- An official number for Totemic Recall's mana refund and Totemic Projection's exact range, since only a beta guide has tested them so far.
- Whether dwarf or Windshaper Skyborne shamans get their own totem-themed starting quest.
