What Blizzard confirmed about Darkspear Islands
Darkspear Islands is WoW: Forever's new 15-versus-15 PvP battleground off Dustwallow Marsh. Blizzard's 7 October 2026 preview confirms four capture points, a central flag to deliver to a point your team controls, and a victory target of 2,000 points.
Beta access to World of Warcraft: Forever began 17 September 2026. The full game launches globally on 4 November 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PST. Darkspear Islands is being tested in the beta ahead of that launch.

How do you get into Darkspear Islands?
Beta testers reported fighting their first matches around 3 October 2026, once the level cap rose to 30. A Reddit post from that day describes earning Honor and Darkspear Island faction reputation from the battleground, and finding a gear vendor south of Ratchet, below Northwatch, though nothing on it was purchasable yet at level 30.
A 1 October beta guide lists four level brackets once you can queue: 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60. Wowhead's own Forever database entry for the zone agrees: a level 30 to 60 PvP battleground. The same guide notes that Normal, PvP, and roleplay rulesets share one matchmaking pool for the battleground, though you cannot queue a premade group with characters from a different ruleset.
- Reach level 30 on the character you want to queue.
- Visit the Battlemaster in your faction capital: Stormwind Keep for the Alliance, the Valley of Honor in Orgrimmar for the Horde.
- Choose Darkspear Islands directly, or queue Random Battleground.
- Accept the match when the queue pops.
Four bases, one flag, and a familiar layout
Beta guide data collected in early October points to four control points: Abandoned Tower, Camp, Ruins, and Shipwreck Cove, plus a separate Darkspear Flag in the middle. Holding a point earns your team resources over time. Carrying the flag to a point you control adds a scoring bonus on top, and the carrier runs at 85% speed while holding it. Blizzard’s 7 October preview confirms that the first team to 2,000 points wins, superseding the 1,500-resource target in early beta guides.
Players who reached the beta in early October said the layout plays like Eye of the Storm from The Burning Crusade: four bases in the corners, one flag in the center, reskinned with Darkspear's tropical coastline. That is a player comparison. Blizzard's newer preview directly confirms the four-point and central-flag structure, so those mechanics no longer depend on the comparison alone.
Rewards and what is still missing
Beta guide data lists three Marks of Honor for a win and one for a loss, plus two new reputations: Theramore Expeditionary Force for the Alliance, Darkspear Raiders for the Horde. Reaching Exalted with either is reported to unlock endgame-bracket armor, a faction tabard, and one Legacy Point through a Master of Darkspear Islands challenge.
Wowdee will track your Darkspear Islands reputation and Marks toward Exalted, and flag the moment the vendor near Ratchet has gear worth your Honor at your level.
Still to come
Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:
- The exact scoring rate from each base and the points awarded for each flag delivery.
- Capture and assault timers, and how graveyards are set up on the islands.
- Final Honor, Mark, and reputation payout rates, plus when the bracket vendors near Ratchet actually start selling gear.
- Whether Darkspear Islands stays unrated at launch, and whether the four-base layout changes before 4 November.
- Whether classic battlegrounds like Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin return in Forever alongside Darkspear Islands.
