Does WoW: Forever have dual spec?

Yes. Blizzard confirmed the feature in its 30 September 2026 class deep dive posts for Hunter, Druid, Priest, and Warrior. Each post carries the same line: Dual Specialization unlocks at level 40.

The posts also settle where you go to use it. Blizzard's exact wording: "To change your talents (including Legacy talents), you'll need to visit a class trainer in one of the major cities. Dual Specialization also becomes available at level 40." That is the full official statement so far. It names the level and the location, and it says the same trainer visit covers both your class talents and each character's Legacy talents.

WoW Forever dual spec level and cost

The level is settled at 40. The cost is not. A thread on the official forums titled "Dual spec question for beta testers" asked plainly what level and gold figure to expect. As of early October, no Blizzard reply had answered either part, and the class deep dive posts do not mention a price.

For scale, Wrath of the Lich King Classic's version of dual spec cost 1,000 gold at level 40, by player recollection on the r/classicwow subreddit. That is Classic history, not a Forever number. Forever changes leveling speed, professions, and gold income enough that the launch figure could land anywhere.

Several beta testers have asked Blizzard to move dual spec down to level 20 or 30 and lower its price, arguing that tank and healer specs are too valuable in leveling dungeons to lock behind a high-level purchase. Blizzard has not responded to those requests on the forums.

How to reset talents in WoW: Forever

During the Beta, as confirmed in Blizzard's official Beta Development Notes post updated 1 October 2026, the fee is discounted. If you have not reset recently, it costs 1 silver. Reset again soon after and the price jumps much higher, then falls back to 1 silver once an hour has passed. Blizzard states plainly that this discount is temporary for the Beta only.

As of that same build, the Beta's level cap sits at 30, ten levels short of where Dual Specialization unlocks. Nobody has tested the actual second-spec purchase screen yet. Expect the respec fee to return to a steeper, Classic-style scale once WoW: Forever launches globally on 4 November 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PST.

  1. Walk to a class trainer for your class in one of the major faction cities.
  2. Ask the trainer to reset your talents. The same visit also resets your Legacy talents.
  3. Pay the reset fee and respend your points in the build you want.

What Blizzard has not said yet

Three questions are still open. What the second spec costs to buy at level 40. Whether the respec fee follows the old Classic scale, 1 gold rising with each quick reset up to a 50 gold cap, or a new Forever curve. And whether the community requests to lower the level 40 requirement change anything before launch.

When the price does land, the Wowdee add-on + app will track it alongside your gold and flag the day your character crosses level 40, so you know exactly when a second build is in reach.

Still to come

Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:

  • The launch-day gold cost of buying the second talent spec itself
  • Whether the respec fee returns to the Classic 1g-to-50g scale or a new curve once the beta discount ends
  • Any Blizzard response to forum requests to lower the level 40 requirement
  • How the feature actually plays once beta testers can reach level 40 (the beta cap is currently 30)
