Where Alcaz Prison is
Alcaz Prison is on Alcaz Island, off the northeast coast of Dustwallow Marsh. It is a five-player dungeon for levels 48 to 53.
Dustwallow holds both Theramore, the Alliance city on its coast, and the Horde's Brackenwall Village, and it is also home to Onyxia's Lair, which opens on 9 December. Blizzard has not said how a party reaches the island or where the entrance is.
The rumour about King Varian
Blizzard's 20 October dungeon overview says Alcaz Island has long been wrapped in rumours of high-ranking prisoners, including King Varian Wrynn, but that its prison has stayed out of reach until now.
The rumour has history. In the Warcraft comics, the Defias abducted Varian on his way to a diplomatic meeting at Theramore and held him on Alcaz Island, where Onyxia tried to break him with a ritual. In the original game the island was home to naga, and later a Burning Crusade quest from Jaina Proudmoore found that the Defias who took Varian were working with Onyxia.
Blizzard's only hint about the story in Forever is that you will uncover new pieces of a familiar mystery.
What is inside
Step through the doors and you find the Defias Brotherhood and naga locked in conflict. Blizzard says you get to explore the prison, confront its occupants and piece together what happened there.
At 48 to 53 it follows Krol'dok Stronghold (40 to 45) and comes before Blackmaw Hold (55 to 60).
Wowdee's dungeon guide will add the prison's quests and bosses once they can be checked, including any quest that starts in Theramore or elsewhere in Dustwallow.
Still to come
Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:
- How a party reaches Alcaz Island, and where the entrance is.
- Boss names, boss count and loot.
- Whether the dungeon's story answers what happened to King Varian.
