Two routes to the same relic
The Titan Relic drops from Relic Guardian, the final boss of Excavation Site: Wetlands, a level 26 dungeon in the Wetlands. What happens next depends on your faction.
Horde: Elder Knowledge carries the relic to Bashana Runetotem on the Elder Rise in Thunder Bluff. Finishing it opens Earthen Echo, which sends you on to Muln Earthfury at the Skywatcher Plateau in northwest Mulgore.
Alliance: Lost Relic Carry hands the relic to Prospector Whelgar in the Wetlands. Finishing it opens Prehistoric Prism, which sends you on to High Explorer Magellas in Ironforge's Hall of Explorers.
The two chains share a boss and nothing else. Follow your own faction's quest log, not the other side's NPCs.
- Loot the Titan Relic from Relic Guardian inside Excavation Site: Wetlands.
- Horde: turn it in to Bashana Runetotem on the Elder Rise in Thunder Bluff for Elder Knowledge.
- Alliance: turn it in to Prospector Whelgar in the Wetlands for Lost Relic Carry.
- Accept the follow-up quest and carry the relic to Muln Earthfury at the Skywatcher Plateau (Horde) or High Explorer Magellas in Ironforge's Hall of Explorers (Alliance).

How to get the Titan Relic back if it disappears
On 3 October 2026, players on both factions began reporting on the official beta forums that turning in the first quest deleted the Titan Relic, leaving nothing to hand over for the follow-up. One thread covers Elder Knowledge on the Horde side, a separate thread covers Prehistoric Prism on the Alliance side, and the two describe different luck with the fix.
On the Horde thread, early replies warned against dropping the quest, since some players who dropped it could not pick it up again. Later replies said the opposite worked: dropping Earthen Echo and accepting it again from the contact on the Elder Rise in Thunder Bluff put the Titan Relic back in their bags, and a second player in the same thread confirmed it worked for them too.
The Alliance thread tells a different story. Players reported the Titan Relic vanishing after turning in Lost Relic Carry to Prospector Whelgar, and said dropping Prehistoric Prism and picking it up again did not bring the relic back, even after running the dungeon several more times. One reply said they had seen another player get through the full chain, but did not say how.
Neither outcome is a confirmed fix from Blizzard. Zockify's dungeon guide, checked 4 October, still listed Elder Knowledge as bugged with no official patch note or blue post resolving it. If you are Horde, the drop-and-reaccept trick has worked for other players recently. If you are Alliance, it has not been reported to work yet. Try it if you are stuck, but do not count on it.
What to do with the relic in your bag
Horde: hold on to the relic until Elder Knowledge is turned in. If it is already gone and Earthen Echo is sitting empty in your log, other players report that dropping that quest and taking it again from the contact on the Elder Rise in Thunder Bluff brings the relic back.
Alliance: look for Prospector Whelgar in the Wetlands, not for the Horde contacts. The same deletion bug hits Lost Relic Carry, but Alliance reports so far say dropping and retaking Prehistoric Prism does not bring the relic back. Report it through the in-game bug tool and wait for a fix rather than counting on the Horde workaround.
Both chains end in a reward choice. Earthen Echo offers Furs of the Earthen Ring, a Healer's Staff, or Heavehammer. Prehistoric Prism offers an Explorer's League Dustcover, a Healer's Staff, or Heavehammer. Full stats on those items, and the exact level the quests open at, are not settled yet across sources.
Wowdee will show which relic chain your character is on next to Excavation Site's loot, with a note when that week's beta build still lists the turn-in bug.
Still to come
Not yet settled by our sources or tested in game:
- Whether Blizzard treats the Horde and Alliance item-loss reports as the same bug, and whether a fix for one side also fixes the other.
- The exact level the quests open at; Wowhead's quest pages list level 31 for all four quests, while Zockify lists level 24 for every quest in the dungeon, including unrelated ones.
- Full reward stats for the gear offered at the end of Earthen Echo and Prehistoric Prism.
- Whether the drop-and-reaccept trick ever starts working for Alliance, since every Alliance report checked so far says it did not restore the relic.
